Eddie Velcoro is a former LAPD Police Sergeant and Ray Velcoro's father. He suffers from alcoholism and insomnia.
History[]
Eddie Velcoro was a LAPD Officer who was freinds with Burris and Holloway, as they worked "tough beats under Gates", but before the 1992 Rodney King Riots and the Trial of OJ Simpson, and when "you could actually do police work". Unlike Caspere, Burris, Dixon, and Holloway, Eddie does not leave the LAPD for Vinci, which results in him having reduced benefits and pension as the LAPD was less corrupt. Its ambiguous if he has knowledge of the robbery of the murder of the Ostermens, because although he is in an impovershied state in 2014, explaining to Ray why Burris left the LAPD for Vinci he makes a finger gun, implying he knew about the robbery that allowed Burris, Caspre, Holloway, and Dixon to move onto the Vinci Police Department.
He is implied to have died long after Ray's confrontation in the woods during the Finale, because in Ray's vison of the afterlife he says "You got here before me".
He gave his insignia to Ray who then gave it to Chad as a memento of his father and grandfather.
